Several exit options are available within the Professional Nursing Program track.
- Option 1 – take the certification exam to become a CAN or CMA after Fall semester
Students may choose to exit at these points and work, or continue in the Professional Nursing Program. Students who exit will have two years to resume the Professional Nursing Program.
Alternate entry options are available for Certified Nursing Assistants, Emergency Medical Technicians, Certified Medical Assistants, Tech Prep students, and graduates of a high school health occupations program. These students receive articulated credit for RNSG 1119, and enter directly into Nursing I.
LVN to RN Transition Track is available only for Licensed Vocational Nurses, who then complete the program in two and one-half semesters. Information specific to the LVN Transition track is provided in another publication.
Paramedic to RN Transition Track The program is offered only at Lone Star College-North Harris.
RN to BSN Program is an additional option available to Professional Nursing Program graduates who seek to complete their baccalaureate degree in nursing. This program is offered at the University Center through an articulation agreement with Prairie View A &M University, College of Nursing.
