Before enrolling in the intern program, schedule an appointment with one of the program coordinators. Please call one of the individuals listed above as soon as possible. They will tell you general information about the program and make recommendations for participation.
Before registering for the internship program, students are recommended to have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Additionally, participants should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Each intern will be assigned a particular elected official. Every effort will be made to accommodate both the official’s and intern’s requests. Students will be assigned to an office no later than the first week of the semester. Interns are to begin their regular office schedules with their elected officials no later than the second week of the semester.
Each intern is required to work a minimum of 6 hours per week in/with the elected official’s office. (8 hours per week for summer interns)
There may be various seminars, development programs, etc. offered during the course that interns should attend. Your intern coordinator will inform you of upcoming events throughout the semester.
