Certificate Programs

Lone Star College-Tomball offers programs in many areas that guide students through the process of official certification. Whether you are looking to further your expertise in your current field or wanting to pursue a new career, a certificate program may be the timely, affordable option for you.

Certificates are awarded upon the completion of specific courses which have been industry-validated and sequenced for the purpose of developing and upgrading skills in an occupation. The programs vary in length and are designed to prepare the student for employment. Students will receive their certificate from the Lone Star College authorized to offer the total certificate program at which he/she has completed the greatest number of technical program credit hours applicable to the degree or certificate. To be awarded a certificate from Lone Star College System, a student must:

  • Have fulfilled all the course requirements for a certificate program, completing at least 50 percent of coursework with Lone Star College System.
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses required for the certificate.
  • Students MUST APPLY FOR GRADUATION before a certificate can be awarded.
  • Students desiring the Enhanced Skills Certificate must complete the related Lone Star College System associate's degree prior to enrollment.
  • Students desiring an Advanced Technical Certificate must complete a related associate's or bachelor's degree prior to enrollment.

A+ Certification
The A+ Certification Training Program prepares individuals for a career as a computer service technician in the PC industry.

Alternative Teaching Certification Program
Lone Star College-Tomball is approved to offer preparation classes for alternative teacher certification.

AutoCAD Certificate
This program develops skills in graphics, drafting, and design on computers using AutoCAD software.

Certified Payroll Professional
In partnership with the American Payroll Association (APA), the Payroll Professional Learning Series covers the body of knowledge the APA defines as critical skills required by the payroll professionals.

Certified Professional Secretary
The offered CPS review courses are designed as refresher classes for individuals planning to take the CPS exam to attain the CPS rating.

Cisco (CCNA) Certification
This program provides students with a comprehensive study of networking. Those who are CCNA certified can install, configure, and operate various networking systems for small networks.

Entrepreneurship Certificate
This certificate provides the foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to pursue small business opportunities.

Floral Design Certificate
This program is designed to prepare students to work in the floral industry or own a floral shop.

Medication Aide Certificate
This course prepares the student in the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies, including the responsibilities associated with such administration.

Microsoft Office Certificate
This program is designed to acquaint the student with personal computers and software applications pertinent to the business environment.

Network+ Certificate
This program introduces the student to network fundamentals, terminology, hardware, software, and network architecture.

Nurse Aide, Certified
This course prepares the student to function competently and safely in a health care facility as a Nurse Aide.

Office Accounting Certificate
This program teaches the standard accounting procedures, as well as how to use a personal computer for record keeping.
