Applying to the Health Information Technology Program
Graduates of the program receive an Associate of Applied Science degree. To be considered for admission to the program, please review and follow the steps below. All paperwork and testing must be completed prior to admission. Application Process
Complete and submit a Lone Star College System (Lone Star College System) College Admissions form, available from the Lone Star College-North Harris Admissions Office at 2700 W. W. Thorne Drive, Houston, Texas, on the first floor of the Academic Building.
Review the Statement of Student Responsibility. You will be required to sign and comply with this statement at all times while attending classes at Lone Star College-North Harris.
Ensure that you have met all the following requirements for admission, including: - Mathematics (passing score on math placement test or passing grade in MATH 0306 or higher)
- Reading (passing score on reading section of THEA or passing grade in developmental reading courses)
- Writing (passing score on writing section of THEA or passing grade in developmental English courses)
(Students who are exempt from the THEA must take an approved placement test (ACT, COMPASS, ASSET or CELT) and achieve college-level placement in reading and writing, and place into at least MATH 0306 in order to begin the HITT program. NOTE: Prior to graduating from the program, all students must either pass the THEA or be exempt from it.)
REQUEST OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS from all colleges you have attended and ensure that they are mailed directly to Lone Star College-North Harris Admissions Office, Attention: Transcript Evaluator, 2700 W. W. Thorne Drive, Houston, TX 77073. Transcripts must be on file with the Registrar prior to admission to the HITT program.
When Steps 1 - 4 have been accomplished, submit the completed On-Line HITT Admission Application, or obtain and submit a paper application to the Health Information Technology Office in the Winship Building, Suite 174 at Lone Star College-North Harris. You will be contacted shortly thereafter for an interview with the program director.
