Dr. Cher Brock - Vice President, Instruction

Dr. Cher Brock currently serves as the vice president for teaching and learning at Lone Star College-North Harris (NHC). She started her career at NHC as a full-time English teacher. Later, she served as the first director of instructional programs at the
NHC Carver Center, as associate dean for instructional programs at NHC, and dean for business and the social and behavioral sciences before becoming vice president.
She received her BA and MA from
Wichita State University in Kansas and her doctorate from the
University of Houston (UH). She has collaborated on a textbook for freshman English and written several articles for the Honors Scholar, a publication for honors students in the community college, and has taught classes for the Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies graduate program at UH.
Cher considers herself first, last, and foremost a student. As the child of a military family, she spent part of her youth moving around the United States, Japan, and Okinawa, learning about cultures and fitting in to new environments. She has been teaching for most of her life but feels as if she learns something every day.
